Decision Made !!

Hi All

I posted on her before asking for advice to stop Zoladex due to horrendous hair loss.

Well I have made the decision to stop, I have only had 2 injections and the only other symptom I’ve had is leg pain but the loss of my hair is deliberating. Am far from vain but as you women know ur hair is important.

I will just have to see how my bleeding and pain goes once stopped and fingers crossed my hair grows back.

I ve sat in front of the mirror this morning after my shower brushing my hair and crying with what came out, if my hair loss is so bad after 2 injections what would it be like after 6.

I wish I never started them now

thanks for reading and if anyone knows of hair grows back please let me know then will hopefully feel better.

Em

So if you refused do u take anything else ? Am not getting conflicting information as a girl I know is saying try HRT cause I know I have been banging on about my hair that’s because it’s a big thing but I am getting bone pain in my legs too

Omg I really hate this I just don’t know what to do for the best I just wish my date would come for my operation and then it can all be over.

Hi iv been on cerazette pill ,but if I come off it il be in so much pain so I'm like u waiting for surgery.I read did my research, I can't afford to take the risk, and yeh the prostap puts into menopause so yes hair thinning also did u know they use this for people with breast cancer so imagine the impact on your immune system.Regarding hrt they give that to you after 3 months that will help with the bones and hot flushes x

Ah bless you. We can't win aye 😔 such a bloody battle to be pain free.I am waiting for a hysterectomy. I refused zoladex as i had so many symptoms with trying everything else that I'm not taking that risk again. Just swapping one problem for another isn't it.

I feel for you. Stay strong, you tried your best with with what you was hoping will help. Your hair will grow back & so will your smile 💖

Are you waiting for a hysterectomy too? X

Hi Following the advice and me looking I. To things more am going to contact my consultants secretary tomorrow and come off the Zoladex.

I spoke with my step mum too today and she said do what ur guts telling you, I will put up with the bleeding and pains and worse case is when I go for my hysterectomy when ever that will be they might have to do it via open surgery rather than key hole.

I can’t carry on like this.. no matter what I take, what medication I have I seem to be one of them who get the shit end of it with the side effects.

I k ow there are some people out there who have loved the Zoladex they think it’s great, but am not going another 4 months like this.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Hi. So sorry to hear about your hair loss. I haven't taken zoladex or any other meds like that, but I was on an orodispersible form of Tramadol for quite some time. A few years ago I noticed I was losing a lot of hair. I have very thick hair so lots of people wouldn't have realised, but my hairdresser did. It's not nice when it's coming out in clumps. I got some blood tests done though and was told the results were OK. However, I asked and pushed to see copies of the results and from that could see I was low in ferritin, which was then verified by the doctor. I took gentle iron, which I bought as my stomach doesn't cope with what the docs give and after a while the hair fall eased up.

It might be worth asking for some blood tests to be done in case you have a deficiency that could be why you've reacted to something in the zoladex? As well as the routine blood tests, I would suggest asking for calcium, iron, iron stores which is the ferritin and also ask for your vitamin B12 to be checked. The NHS will only check your B levels once every 2 years if your levels come out within normal range. So don't take supplements before getting blood tests done as they'll skew your results. I usually lay off any supplements for at least a week or two before having any blood tests. I think longer may be needed for Vitamin B12 test. Just to mention I made sure I took some orange juice or high quality vitamin c with the iron to ensure absorption. You need to check your iron levels though before taking, as if for any reason you already have enough, you could make yourself very ill if you had an overload with iron supplements.

Anyway, worth a try. As I say, it solved the hair loss problem for me.

In regards to pain.... it's awful, I know. I would suggest using a tens machine, along with pain meds if you don't already, as I've found this lessens the time you're in agony and can ease things somewhat. I discovered that a tens works best if you put it on at the start of pain as it then has the chance to block the signals to the brain. I used to wait until in considerable pain before using, only to find out that they then don't work so well.

I hope something here will be of benefit to you. X x
