Hi Ladies,

I am coming up to 6 months with Benenden so will be able to request a diagnostic laparoscopy. I’m currently on the NHS waiting list, as I’m sure we all are, but for Manchester it’s looking like a very long wait!

has anyone in the North of England used Benenden for this?? I am curious as they are not endo specialists?

Hi lovely, I have had two transvaginal scans and ultrasounds come back clear. No MRI which I have raised as that seems odd.

They most often do as basic scans just look at the reproductive organs for general abnormalities. An expert ultrasound is needed for endo.

Benenden do cover scans etc, I just worry having a lap if it’s not an endo specialist as many people have said that they have found nothing and had to them wait for a specialist!

It is against NICE guidelines to have a lap by a gynaecologist without a special interest in endo (at the least) so I guess you will have to be sure that they do.

Hey, hope you don't mind me asking how you got on? I'm finding myself in a similar position now where i'll be approaching Beneden due to a 3 year NHS waiting time for laparoscopy and wondered if you had any advice at all? Hope you have been feeling better whatever your course of treatment
