tomorrow was my surgery date which I waited for nearly over 2 years and today I got a call saying I tested positive for covid and surgery won’t be going ahead for 7 weeks.
The nurse says they don’t know when they will receive the next list since they aren’t sure when the theatres will fully operate.
Tbh I got a call on Friday and was asked if I would like to get operation done on Thursday so it was last minute .
I feel so dishearten…
Did anyone else had this experience, if so how long did you guys waited for?

Sorry to hear your surgery has been cancelled - after waiting two years and then being told that you have to wait a further seven weeks must be incredibly disheartening and frustrating. We wish you all the best with your recovery from Covid and will keep our fingers crossed you get a new date for surgery very soon x
Not exactly the same but I got a call to come in for my lap 3 days before, dropped all my plans and then the day before the scheduled surgery I got a cold. They told me to come in but after talking to the anaesthetist my surgery was cancelled and I was send home. I was absolutely gutted and know that heartbreak of feeling so close to hopefully getting answers just to have it taken away. It’s such a frustrating feeling, especially given how long most of us wait to even get referred for surgery in the first place!
I’m not 100% sure of how that works with covid but from what I’ve heard, I think they have to wait 7 weeks to ensure your body is fully over the virus and your respiratory system is healthy. But you should be at the top of that list so as soon as your 7 weeks are up they should hopefully be giving you the surgery. Still, if you haven’t heard anything a week or 2 before that, I’d give them a call.
I’m so sorry this has happened to you and I hope you’re not feeling too poorly. It’s so frustrating but try not to get disheartened, you will get your surgery!
