So this is a bit of a weird one but has anyone every experienced random rectal pain outside their period? I am due to get my period in around two weeks (currently on combined pill) and have been getting strong on and off rectal pain today. Has anyone got tips on how to manage this?? Thanks!

Sorry you have this. Also suffered badly with this, so bad it made me sweat from every pore. I've found germoloids suppositories and cream help because they have a local anaesthetic in them. Sounds awful, but finger massage helps. Also, buscopan, is a muscle relaxant. Good luck.
Yes, i used to get sharp shooting pains on and off. I have adenomyosis and endometriosis. Undergone surgery a year back to remove endo from ovary and bowel and to release a lot of adhesions. My uterus was stuck to my bowel. So my bowel endo was on rectosigmoid colon. It was not infiltrated so they only need to shave off from the surface. After surgery i didnt get that kind of pain except when i am constipated. But it will grow again as i have adenomyosis on that side. Check with your gyn to arrange an appoinment with a specialist.
Thanks for your reply! I would want to tell my gynae but not sure they would listen - when I mentioned recurrent blood in urine they said it’s a different problem and did not want to discuss it said it was a urology problem…
Hey, I’m the process of trying to get diagnosed for endometriosis and I get these pains a lot lately. Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but did they say the sharp shooting pains in your bum is due to your bowel being stuck to your uterus, or is it common for people to get them pains when their bowel isn’t also affected? I’m starting to worry incase I might have the same situation going on as you did, still very early into the process of trying to get a diagnosis so I’m trying to get as much info as possible xx
I think my pain is 'Levitor Ani' syndrome, very common with endometriosis, and worsens after operations (had 3). Google and see if it sounds like you. My gynae just shrugged "Never heard of it. Bowels aren't my area, see a Bowel Specialist".
Yep sadly I do, sharp shooting pains that feel like they come from inside and shoot out, I get them down my vagina too. I sit on a heated pad, heat seems to help. Also baths with epsom salt and please please tell your gyne
Hi lovely, so sad to hear this... I suffer with this rectal stubbing pain for the last 2 years and I can't feel that my feaces are in the rectum only when they are nearly out... Anyway I take voltarol suppository that really works. After inserting it lay on your left side for at least 30min for the suppository to dissolve and start to work. Best wishes 🙏🤗💛🌈💛
Yes I have had and continue to get this now and again; very unpleasant. Mine is often during the night, no idea why. I take stuff for excess wind/gas and with water or herbal tea I find it goes. I try to move around too.
hi, I suffered with this for a awhile and would have serve shooting pains. Since being on the mini Pill and having Zoldex injections they have disappeared thankfully. Hot water bottle and curling up on my side and strong painkillers were the only things that would ease it xx
Omg me!! I used to only get it when on my period but lately I get it inbetween periods too, it’s like a sharp shooting pain that comes out of nowhere and stops me in my tracks. I’m still in the process of being diagnosed for endometriosis, is this a common symptom? The pain is horrendous when it happens x
Yes me too and it used to be one or two cramps here and there I did not really think much about it but the other day it was non stop all day long, very uncomfortable! And I am not sure if it is a common symptom. Hope you find a way to soothe it xx
I get shooting pains in my rectum all the time and I didn't even consider it to be a symtpom of endometriosis! It's just another thing to add to the list of symptoms! I've not been diagnosed yet but I was finally referred to a gynaecologist today!
