BSGE presentation tonight on non-invasive approaches to diagnosis of endo
Hi Lindle thanks for the heads up about this how can I join this presentation tonight at 9pm? My daughter has recently had ultra sound as a initial exploration of whether she may have Endo.
She has already been put on the pill, buscopan for pain and cramps. Dr has basically told her and I the gold standard in diagnosis is a laparoscopy. She’s mid teens.
I have had many surgeries due to Endo and have DIE Endo, I’m with BSGE in Manchester.
Sorry for the delay - the link is at
A diagnostic lap is no longer the gold standard - only for mild/peritoneal endo - and the first step is now a scan (as per the new ESHRE guideline). But our problem is that we need more expert sonographers who will have the training to look for deep endo. They can pick up on endometriomas (ovarian endo cysts) as these are of distinctive appearance. The frustration is that endometriomas are often, and some surgeons will say almost always, associated with deep rectovaginal endo but those detecting these endometriomas don't have the training to go on to look for deep endo.
