I wish there was a more eloquent way to put this lol...
So I'm currently on the waiting list for a diagnostic laparoscopy (🎉) but I've been doing my best to monitor symptoms in the meantime.
This happened a couple of weeks ago (about a week post ovulation, not that I know if that made any odds rlly). I hadn't eaten/drunk anything to trigger an ibs flare-up. But I suddenly got this really terrible, stabbing pain around my butt. It was so intense that it hurt too much to sit in the plastic classroom chair, and it was hard to walk. Then, after about an hour of this, it suddenly eased again— but then I was left with aching in my pelvis on both sides for the rest of that day. My left side was also throbbing, which is the main/most frequent symptom for me since last September.
All in all, it was pretty odd and sudden! I do get pain in that region on my actual period, and have seen posts with other people saying they get a period-related butt pain sometimes too.
I wondered if anyone here has experienced similar, outside of their period?

Hello! I get this too - it’s the most painful thing and always comes on suddenly and is totally unexpected. It often happens during my period or in the week leading up to my period, but sometimes can happen totally randomly too, unrelated to my cycle. I have to just stop moving and wait for it to pass… if anyone has any tips on how to relieve the pain, I’m all ears!
I’ve been diagnosed with Endo, but only because the found an endometiroma on an internal ultrasound scan - I’m also waiting for a laparoscopy. I’ve been referred for an MRI too as this can sometimes show deep infiltrating endo and can help inform the surgery. However, it’s good to remember that if nothing shows on the scans it doesn’t mean you don’t have endo - surgery is the only way to be definitely sure. It might be worth asking to be referred for an MRI though as waiting lists are shorter and if they find something it might bump you up the laparoscopy list? (That’s what I’m hoping!)
I don’t know, I’m new to all this too and will be following this thread incase anyone else has any opinions or advice!
I'm so sorry to hear you're suffering too. Thank you very much for your input and advice! I'll definitely keep all of this in mind, and hopefully others may have some tips to help manage this!
I have Endometriosis and Adenomyosis and I also have the same pain as you where you describe. I believe it could be due to recto vaginal Endometriosis. I've had lesions of Endo in between the rectum and vagina and have the same shooting pains x
I'm really sorry to hear that. I was doing some research myself and I actually considered this too! It's such a horrible feeling omg; it could definitely explain my experience.
Yes, I get that sudden pain, can last awhile. A sword up my arse is how I describe it and yes exactly as you've described it. Sorry you are suffering, I haven't yet had a diagnosis, got hysteroscopy in june to find out 🤞
