60 and over
Hi, am 65, diagnosed over 20 years ago, I have pain every day to some extent but there are periods of a few days or longer when it is worse. Can’t see too much of a pattern though. Fatigue is a big problem too, worse when the pain is worse. I am on Gabapentin and currently trying nortryptyline as well.
Hi ,Brambledoggy, I had sonagram internal and external, it showed thickening of the lining of the uterus. Then GYN did pap, and biopsy he snipped 10 pieces off of my uterus all in different areas, all came back negative.he said that my overies was still a little fertile and I had vaginal dryness and it was causing spottting.he gave me a prescription for Premarin and told me he’ll see me in six months. I told my Primary Care Physician about it and she says if she was me she would not take it because at my age it causes cancer, at that particular time I was 60 years old. I am now 67 and I have had paps but every now and then I still have the cramping and spotting. Taking 800 mg of ibuprofen for pain.
I just googled Premarin, it is HRT - oestrogen. I would have thought that would ‘feed’ the endo, so not a good idea. Usually if people with endo take HRT they should also be prescribed progesterone to balance that. Sorry, am not clear if you are still taking the Premarin.
I did not take it because my doctor gave me a strong no! so I didn’t take it,I did not follow anymore with the gynecologist about the endometriosis I only went for my annual Pap smears once a year,. And we just focused on that. When I start spotting I get a little worried and start searching for answers. I take blood pressure meds and cholesterol medication I always wondered if one of them had anything to do with it( spotting) because sometimes breast gets sore.
Does your doctor not think that the continued spotting should be investigated/ referred to Gynae? I understand that you are having regular smear tests and I’m not suggesting it is anything like cancer. Just seems unusual for someone of your age.
