Endometriosis Testing Next Week (I'm new here)

Hi there,

I have finally got into contact with my doctor about thinking I have Endometriosis (My mum has it and I have terrible period pains and a few other symptoms). She has prescribed me some meds for when I am on my period and wants to see me next week for an exam. What should I expect?

I am quite nervous, to be honest. Any advice or knowledge would be helpful.

I have just been diagnosed with Endometreosis and at first when i went to my GP i had an internal examination and she also felt round about my tummy. A referral was then done for a Gyn appointment and an ultrasound scan. I have had these and its definitely Endometreosis and i am now waiting for an MRI and Kidney scan and i have been told it will be a Hysterectomy. Hope this helps you.

Welcome to the forum. At my initial GP appointment, the doctor performed an internal examination (unpleasant but I didn't find it painful), tested my urine, and felt my abdomen. I was then referred for an ultrasound, then to a local gynaecologist, and finally a laparoscopy and diagnosis.

Feeling nervous is perfectly normal. It may help to take a notepad and pen plus make a list of any questions/concerns you have. (When I get nervous, I often get forgetful!)
