Everything i have read has said the pill should help but the pain has only been happening since the pill? can anyone help? I get pain when my cycle is starting and then a couple of days after then it stops.

Hi beth1904

You mentioned that the hospital seems to think the pain is endometriosis. Have they conducted any investigations? The gold standard of endometriosis diagnosis is through a laparoscopy and you can find more details about what this entails here: endometriosis-uk.org/your-l...

If you're concerned that the pain is being caused by the pill, I'd certainly suggest going back to your GP, talking through your symptoms and explaining when they started, to see if any other options are available to you in place of the pill.

Wishing you all the best x

My GP has said to see if my pain is caused by the pill first so I have stopped taking the pill and I’m going to see if I’m still having the pain this month. But I still get pain where I normally would and in my back. They have not done any investigation into it being endometriosis at the moment but hopefully after this month they will look further into it. Thankyou for your reply.

Hi Beth, Yes, I have! In fact my endo only became symptomatic once I had been on the progesterone only pill for 3 months. The first month that my bleeding stopped, was the month my pain started and hasn't left me for a single day since. My GP also advised me to stop taking the pill to see if my symptoms were relieved. This made it a nightmare for me to get listened to, but because of my research and assertiveness, I was able to get a laparoscopy on the NHS last week, and I do have endo, and the places it's been found explained my symptoms.

If you were on the combined pill, that would have estrogen and can cause your endo to grow, inspire of your periods stoping. But as you saw in my case my pill didn't even contain estrogen. I don't know if the hormone change triggered something or it was just a coincidence, but either way you can most certainly continue to or start having symptoms of endo when on the pill.

Can I ask, just out of interest, which pill you were on and how long for?

Not what you're looking for?
