Hi all,

I am so happy to find that these is support out there in some form. Even if it is just us lot trying to set the worlds right.

I was told I have Endo in 2016 (still a teen) and put on the pill along with my contraceptive injection and told not to worry about it. I wasn’t investigated they just went ahead with making my feel comfortable I guess buy using hormone therapy.

Fast forward to 2021, I’ve been for ultrasounds after irritation has started again (but this time it’s like this stuff is on acid, I’m in pain). They say my results are showing endo, ovarian cysts and scar tissue. I have been diagnosed and treating clinic mental health disorders for years and not having much luck. I guess I’m just looking for some reassurance, my relationships have broken down, I’m unemployed and really low.

I’m really interested to know how you all maintain healthy relationships and whether anyone has experienced a change in mental health after treating endo?

So sorry to hear that you are suffering. It’s a lot to deal with, especially at such a young age. I wasn’t diagnosed with endo until I was well into my 30’s so I can’t relate to how you feel but what I realised later in life was for me (and this might not be the case for you) the pill actually contributed to a lot of mental health issues. I was on the pill from 17 to 25. Then again in my late 30’s to treat endo. What I realised after going back on it was that for my it triggered severe depression and I will never take it again. Like I say, for you this might not be the case. Many ladies take it and it really helps. I highlight this situation because writing a diary of symptoms (physical and mental) is really useful when trying to identify what’s working and what’s not. It can also help you to identify certain foods and situations that might be acting as triggers for a flare up and can help you manage better. On a practical level, I find yoga and lots of ginger tea is also useful for me. This forum is helpful for getting feedback & support and there are some really strong sufferers using Instagram to share their journeys. Hope this helps and best of luck x

Thank you so much for the reply, some really great points here that I can use. Maybe the pill will have the opposite effect on me, I can’t remember having any issues with my mental health when I was on it in the passed, something for me to discuss with GP. I’ve never considered what I eat as a contribution to it as well, I consider myself quite healthy but it’s time to dig a bit dipper for anti-inflammation.

Thank you so much.

Hi Jackiebrown25

Sorry to hear you're feeling so low - it's tough dealing with all the symptoms of endometriosis. As well as the forum we do have local support groups all over the UK that meet face-to-face and are a wonderfully supportive environment. You can find out if there's one in your area at endometriosis-uk.org/find-a...

We also have a comprehensive document on endometriosis treatment, which contains some brilliant ways of improving mood, reducing stress and taking back a little bit more control. Everyone is different but hopefully on pages 10 and 11 there are a couple of ideas that might appeal. You can download the document on the following page: endometriosis-uk.org/endome...

Take care - I know so many of our forum users will identify with how you are feeling x
