Hi, I’ve had the mirena coil for 6 months now but seem to have pain throughout the month rather than just leading up to period. Still have some spotting with mirena. Has anyone else found the coil hasn’t helped or made it worse? I’m just not sure whether to keep persevering or if it’s just not working and to have it taken out? I’ve had issues with thrush and urine infections too since coil was put in. Thank you

Mirena helping or making endo worse?
Hello,
Not sure if this is helpful but my coil took around a year to fully settle. Up until about 6-7 months I still had some spotting and cramps. Now I don’t bleed at all. I still get PMS/period type symptoms - headache, fatigue, nausea and cramps but nowhere near the scale I got it before the coil. I almost had it taken out at my 6 month check up with gynae but glad I persevered now. As for making endo worse, I recently had a laparoscopy which showed significant endo etc so I’m unsure if it helped/made worse with that but in terms of helping with symptoms I would say I’ve seen an improvement.
Hope you feel better soon x
Hi, I feel the exact same and have had the coil about 5 months. In fact this month has been the worst by far and I’ve felt ill/sick for about 2 weeks now. My GP has suggested I start taking the pill again as well to ease some of the symptoms 🤷🏻♀️ x
