Hey! So sorry to hear you’re struggling with hormonal acne, I’ve been there myself and it is so difficult.

As far as what worked for me, the main thing was going on the pill, however I did have to stop taking it for the other side effects!

Other things that really help is there is a cream called Acnecide, which you can get over the counter at boots, it literally dries the spots off your face, it works brilliantly but can obviously leave your skin quite dry and it can also bleach your clothes.

In terms of cleansers, I swear by Lush’s ultrabland. It’s a balm based cleanser and so gentle, and it keeps my skin clear now.

Other things that also keep my skin clear is not having dairy. I’m lactose intolerant anyway but I noticed as soon as I stopped having dairy my skin flared up. If I do eat any I do notice my skin pays the price!

It might also be worth seeing if you have any skin specialists by you to help. I visit one for facials and I often have an LED mask which kills bacteria.

I hope that helps! Like I say the main thing that worked for me was the pill to clear it initially. But if that’s not possible for you I’d definitely speak to your GP and try the cream!

Thank you so much! I’ve tried 3 different pills and haven’t found one right for me yet! I’ve got some cream from the doctors but I will speak to my GP about acnecide for sure! Im on a strict oat milk only diet too! Thank you so much for your info and tips xx

I know the feeling, the pill is such a minefield, the only one that ever helped me was Dianette but I couldn’t stay on it cos of the risk of blood clots! If the cream doesn’t work for you I’d defo ask for a referral to a dermatologist or see a skin specialist. Those led treatments are an absolute godsend! Xx

Hi, I was also a sufferer of spots on my face for years, I’m 30 and I started with bad skin at 13 so it was really getting me down. I tried pretty much every acne cream available, even stronger creams from the USA. It sounds silly now, but I only recently realised it was hormonal and probably linked to Endo rather than stress / diet related. I had a laparascopy in May and had two ovarian cysts removed and endo removed and my skin has been clear (and glowing) for three months now, post op. I have also been using Avene Hydrance Gel cream after Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish cream for 18 months and I can really tell a difference, but especially post op! Good luck and best wishes - hope your skin improves for you but mostly you feel better about it, in the next few weeks / months.
