I visisted a gyne today for the first time with my issues. Since i had my period, i've had heavy painful periods but in the last year i started bleeding more often than not and experiienced a new level of pain. And bowel/bladder issues. As well as back pain.
And chest pain. Thought i was dieing until i heard about endometriosis and how it can infact get as far as the ch3est.
Went to the gyne today turns out my gp messed up because my ultrasound wasnt clear they just couldn't see anything cos my uterus is retroverted. Explains why i get so much lower back/bum pain .
Dr said they cant do internal ultrasound because ive not had sex or whatever. Im in the uk, am i able to get around that somehow? Or is there another scan someone with the same issue would recommend? Mri maybe? Ive got a feeling they still wont be able to see it. They couldnt get the thickness of my womb lining, even with my bladder full.
Also has anyone had their endo show up on a chest xray? Gonna have my consultant look at that again since the gp made a mistake last time.

What your doctors have said puzzles me a bit. I have a retroverted uterus, and have had quite a few ultrasounds with no problem.
I have heard it said about not doing an internal ultrasound if the patient has not had vaginal sex, maybe other people can comment on that. Presumably you could give your consent to them doing it knowing that it might be more uncomfortable?
If they can’t do an ultrasound for whatever reason then I would think they need to do other investigations. Endo won’t show up usually on an ultrasound and I would think not on a chest X-ray.
The best way of diagnosing endo is by laparoscopy and then they can excise it as far as possible at the same time.
