Initial consultations - go during a flare up or a “normal time”?

I have been waiting for this endometriosis consultation for years and I’ve decided I can’t wait any longer and I will pay to go private but when is best to go? When you’re flaring up so they can witness the extreme pain (I’m not sure how I’ll manage this but I’ll think about that later) or a “normal” time? Does it matter? Will they be able to see different things in a scan at different times?

Sorry if this question has been asked before and answered and I also know this isn’t a medical professional site but I just can’t find any information elsewhere and my GP is just horrible.

Hey, I don’t think it matters in terms of flare up. If you explain the pain and symptoms you have your consultant will believe you and won’t need to see it to believe it. In terms of scans I don’t think it makes a difference if you’re having a flare up. My scans showed a cyst which was endo which is how I got my laparoscopy scheduled xx

Id go in a normal time. Just make sure you write notes about all the symptoms you get. Even if you don't think they're related as they could be. And check that whoever you book with actually has a minimum of a specialist interest in endometriosis. I've found when I looked that literally all the private gynaecologists pages listed 20/30 specialist interest on their page. But on their nhs page it showed a truer reflection of what their specialist interest/s are.
