CA-125 Blood Test Experiences and Thoughts ?

I’ve had a blood test for markers of endometriosis imagine its the CA-125. Which can be done to see if you have an elevated level of a certain blood protein, which can indicate advanced endometriosis. Has anyone found this did indicate they had it - what are people’s thoughts on it ?

Thanks 😊

Hey lovely mine was 7x higher than normal. Had my laparoscopy, with endo removed and it decreased considerably. Hope that helps xx

Had mine and that is what alerted my doctor to push for an MRI. Had a lap in March as I was riddled with severe endometriosis, I had no idea as I had no symptoms. 5 weeks on now and feeling much better. Xxx

So interesting thank you have you adjusted changed your diet or did having endo removed make a big difference on its own ?

How long did you have to wait to have mri and laparoscopy?

I haven’t really changed my diet, I am pretty good with what I eat, if anything I’ve just cut out a lot of gluten, but otherwise not a lot else. I train a lot too so I think that helped me recover, however I’m nowhere near what my strength was pre lap. Baby steps though.

So far having the endo removed has made my symptoms go. I had my left Fallopian tube and ovary removed and a bowel shave and other he also removed a lot of scar tissue from my caesareans.

My tube was full of blood and I think that was leaking, hence why I went to my doctor in the first place. I was fortunate to be able to do this privately through hubbys work so didn’t wait too long after my MRI to have surgery, but as a timescale, I went to my GP last September for tests and they were fine, went back in November and she then booked an ultrasound for January this year, after that, had the CA125 test and she referred me straight away to have an MRI done.

I’m in Hertfordshire and they couldn’t see me as quick as they normally would (2 week turnaround) so I went privately and had the mri in feb and surgery in March.

I Hope you get some answers soon lovely. I feel like a fraud for having this and no pain or symptoms and not knowing, and reading some of the stories on here, my heart goes out for all of you that have struggled with this pain for year and haven’t had surgery. This forum has taught me so much, so now when I think back, certain symptoms were definitely signs of endo, I just didn’t know it!

Mines normal and I have stage 4 DIE previously operated but active again at the min on ultrasound and MRI and awaiting surgery!

Anything, even the time of the month can elevate it! It means nothing unless pathology is found and it doesn’t rule anything out either!
