So I was meant to have a follow up appointment today with a nurse, and it all from the get go went horribly wrong! I got lost, and then I ended up waiting an hour and a half finally a nurse came over to me and turns out the outpatient booking people had booked me into the wrong clinic, not the Pelvic Pain/ endo clinic The nurse that was supposed to see me even went home! I started to cry as I felt so sad and disappointed and now have to wait a few weeks until my appointment. I'm glad that it is only a few weeks but I felt so prepared and then it all went horribly wrong.
Just wondering for some advice and tips for the appointment, I really want to push for a Laproscopy and just wondering if there any tips or questions I need to ask??
Thank you in advance xx

Have a record of how frequent the bleeds are, how heavy and what happens when your in pain when on the cycle and not on it. You will probably have done all this xx
I was advised that it was PMT, and to eat a specific diet!! I suggested quite strongly that this was not going to get rid of the pain I were in and it was affecting my quality of life.
I’d had scans and there was nothing, having the Lap showed up how bad the endo was.
Hi there. Oh that’s so frustrating. Not what you need when you’re already worried.
So I kept a note of all the symptoms I had experienced on phone. Before my appointment I wrote them all down to give to the consultant so they could see the extent of it - seeing it all there in black and white is quite powerful and means you don’t forget to mention something. They kept it to add to my file.
I told them how bad it was and that I was concerned it was endo. I’m now on a waiting list to have a laparoscopy. I would say just to be complete open about how you feel, tell them your concerns and don’t shy away from any details.
Sorry you had such a frustrating day. Always remember it's your body and your health. The medic isn't in charge, - you are! If you haven't already I would list all your symptoms on a piece of paper so nothing is forgotten.
Treat this postponement as a positive by using the time to practice with a friend or family member what to say if they refuse a lap. Get the person to say things like, you don't need a lap try X instead, etc etc. Practice pushing back and justifying your need for a lap in a firm and assertive manner. You will feel more likely to succeed once you've practiced.
Don't worry that they're the medical professional, we know our bodies far better than they do. Don't take no for an answer. Always remember if they do persist with the answer no, you have the option to ask to speak with the consultant in charge that day, say you'll wait as you want to speak with them
