Id ask my GPs but they ain’t too interested! Been telling them for months I ain’t getting better.
So any, the less said about that, the better! This time my illness has been extended! The NHS thought I woke up one day with sepsis, and that was that! Well, it never happened that way! I wasn’t good for a while, months, before I ended up in A & E! I was getting rashes on my hands, night sweats, weight loss long before A & E and I kept going to Drs! Ignored, then bam A & E!
Well, I’ve not felt better since my last course of antibiotics! I had a period last Monday, that was very heavy and short! The day I started, was the day I was doubled over with ovary pain! I could literally feel it bleeding into itself! It felt like it was going to explode! It stung! Since then I’ve slowly felt worse! Night sweats, stinking to high heavens, loss of appetite, weight loss! My ovary now stands at about 4cm (I can feel my mass).
Time will tell if I need to go back to A & E but I certainly won’t be going back to gp!
Anyone else got a second tubo-ovarian abscess months later?

It can certainly persist - I had one and had to have repeated courses of antibiotics over 3 months as the symptoms kept returning. Are they still monitoring you with ultrasounds? I was given monthly ultrasounds (on the NHS) to check . My ultrasounds showed that while the abscess had resolved, my fallopian tube was still infected ("pyosalpinx"). After 3 months of this, I had a laprascopy (privately through health insurance) to remove the infected tube and they actually found an endometrioma on that ovary. Consultant said that it's likely that the endometrioma got infected causing the abscess. I had the tube removed (it was full of puss) and the endometrioma drained.
You should definitely go back to GP. An untreated infection is very bad for fertility (if that is a consideration for you) and causes adhesions and associated pain. Plus you have the risk of sepsis (as you know) if the infection overwhelms your body.
I had an ultrasound eventually, that showed a very complex mass, but they wasn’t sure if it was still infected, but was 1cm or so smaller than ‘sepsis’ ultrasound.
Then I had an MRI, which had showed the ovary had managed to shrink more, by about half a cm! They’re supposedly sure it’s an endometrioma on this ovary! I only have part of my Fallopian on this side!
No, I haven’t had any further scans! I have been back to Drs loads of times, to be told to go away! So I won’t be contacting them again.
Then last Wed my period started and this ovary kicked off again! The pain was bad! Now it’s eased but I don’t feel particularly well! Also had the Covid Vaccine, that knocked me for 6, so if my body was containing a subclinical infection, it’s likely not now!
I was pooing blood last week, during my period, but now I’m not pooing at all!
I absolutely stink! Rancid stink! Not helped by the night sweats, but the last time I smelt this bad was when I was in hospital with sepsis, and after!
I’ll have to just see what progresses atm! If it gets worse I’ll contact my consultant, but I certainly won’t be contacting my gp!
I’m meant to be having surgery to remove this ovary and endometrioma from my bowel! When that will be, no one knows, certainly not me! Xx
