I have tried two types of the pill, the GnRH analogues (Zoladex injections) and I have had the mirena coil implanted for the last seven weeks. While on all three I have still felt horrible pain in my womb. I am just wondering if hormones always work or if there may be some women who just don't respond well to hormones?

Is it possible to have endometriosis and still feel pain while on hormone treatments?
Hey tullagh,
It sounds like a really tough time, I'm so sorry you're in pain, particularly being on 3 types of horemone treatment heart goes out to you! <3
From what I understand, hormone treatments biggest advantage is that it slows down endo progression. I think for many women it also helps with pain, but everyone is different and if the horemone treatment isnt helping your pain then your doctor needs to know so they can try to help in other ways.
I have actually heard from many people that the mirena coil can cause lots of pain in itself, and actually lots of women with endo find the coil doesnt help with pain at all - perhaps the coil isnt working for you?
How long were you on the pills for? I've been on the mini pill for 5 monthes now and in all honesty I'm only just starting to get positive results from it! I think everyone is different and for some of us it takes time!
Hi Bnewbie!! Thank you so much honestly you’re so kind <3 I have spoken to my consultant and he was very dismissive and said that my problem probably wasn’t gynae related (which makes no sense to me at all) all because the hormones haven’t helped! I think I am going to get another doctor because he made me feel so insecure when I’m in crippling pain and unable to leave my house most days!! I was on the combined pill for 2 years but had awful migraines so they took me off it and the mini pill was so rough I was bleeding for months and had such bad depression so had to come off that too! I can’t believe the coil can cause pain for so many women! There must be a small number of us who’s bodies just reject the hormones who knows! Sorry for rambling but thank you so so much for your help and I hope the pill continues to give you a bit of relief!!
I'm sorry to hear that, doctors can be so dismissive of female pain which is honestly half the reason endo takes so long to diagnose!!!
I deffo think a second opinion is really important - I found doctors were pretty rubbish and it was only when I finally got referred to a gyno that I was taken seriously and was listened too!
Hi yes I was on the pill to keep my symptoms at bay but I actually found I was in more pain daily from the pill so I came off it. I’m in pain without the pill but I would say it’s less frequent and my mental health has significantly improved!I hope you find what works for you xx
