I had my lap done in October last year where they found a spot of endo on my uterus ligaments and adeshions on my bowel, yet they tell me I dont have endometriosis and signed me off saying i likely I have ibs!! This makes noooo sence to me, anybody else had this?
Anyone had endo found on a lap to be told... - Endometriosis UK
Anyone had endo found on a lap to be told you don't have endo?
Not quite the same but similar - I had a lap in august with general gynae to be told everything looks normal and was discharged and told ‘probably IBS’ . I’m now seeing a specialist after still having issues who thinks I do have endo because of my symptoms and that it was missed i my first lap 🤦🏼♀️ It’s so frustrating xx
Active areas of endometriosis are seen as red vesicles (blisters). White or brown areas represent older or inactive endometriosis and therefore milder form of the disease. Extensive adhesions and endometriomata (endometriosis on the ovaries) indicate severe disease.
I’m assuming he found inactive endometriosis, which means you may have had mild disease at one point, but no active disease was noted! Therefore, he assumed your symptoms weren’t being caused by endometriosis!
Not a lot of people actually know this! But there is active and inactive disease! Xx
Ask the hospital for a copy of your notes. This should show a bit more info about op. Might help in moving forward.
I had an endometrioma removed at my lap and was told endo was "the most likely diagnosis". My pain was greatly reduced for about 6 months, went to a BSGE consultant when it started coming back and she opened with "you know you don't have endo, so what do you want from this appointment?" She told me removing the cyst had "cured" me so my returning symptoms were just "bad hormones", I shouldn't work so much (I work a 40hr desk job) and should take baths to relax, and then discharged me back to the GP. I left her office sobbing uncontrollably. I'm on my way back through the system now (baths did not cure me, surprise surprise) and I've stated that I do not under any circumstances want to see her again.
Request a copy of your operative notes and discharge note. I was told i had severe stage 4 endo with bowel involvement after my second op and when i went for follow up was told i did not and that they didnt say it. Op number three was a hyster and confirmed severe stage 4 disease again!!
