Hi After 25yrs being fobbed off by doctors and specialist with bad period pains and stabbing pains up the rectum (hot poker) I eventually insisted seeing someone again as I had pain in my bladder stomach etc .The gynaecologist I saw was the first man that actually took me serious and said he needed to do a laparoscopic to find out what was wrong, diagnosis was I had endo everywhere stuck on bowel and it had wrapped around my urethra hence the bladder pain. I was given a total Hysterectomy they stented my urethra whilst doing the procedure as it was wrapped so tight around it and incase of damage to remove it, he was unable to remove my cervix as endo too stuck and my bowel was still left with endo stuck to it too. The specialist said to me after he was unsure if I would have less pain as there was still so much left there, but I have been much better hysterectomy certainly helped me very much, I still get bowel problems but nothing like all the years of dreadful suffering.

I'm glad you finally got listened to & taken seriously. That's a win for the endo community in my mind & encouraging for me personally.

I've had worsening pains since I was 14 - now I'm 35 & still waiting to be taken seriously. I keep pressing on.

My last post says where I'm up to.

All the best xx

It’s take so long to be taken seriously. Drs are pretty ignorant when it comes to endo. I think a lot of it is down to their budgets. I’m 26 yrs post hysterectomy and still have debilitating pain. If I hadn’t found this group I wouldn’t have got anywhere. Now, under bsge centre and waiting for excision. Never give up ladies xx
