Hi all endo warriors,

Hope all are as well as can be. πŸ˜ƒ

I would just like some advice from mothers if possible please?

I am currently 16 pregnant with my miracle rainbow ivf baby. I would just like some help on labour. I wanted some advice on what to expect during labour in regards to my endo. Is my endo going to cause me lots of pain when giving birth.

I have stage 4 endo and I’ve had 3 laps and had quite a lot of endo removed so I am presuming I have quite a lot of scar tissue on the outside of my uterus. I also have endo on my bowel. I am not going to lie I have enjoyed the break from endo but I just wanted some guidance on what to expect after birth and during labour? Is my endo going to come back with a bang! I am hoping to have another baby 2 years after my little boy as I have embryos in the freezer to use and I want to try and give my baby boy a sibling if I can.

Thanks xxx πŸ˜€

Hi I have stage 4 endo too and have had 2 children. Both my labours were quite quick and I didn't have time for pain relief with my first but managed to get some diamorphine with my 2nd. I can't say if it hurt more than it does for someone else who doesn't have endo but I can say that it hurt! But I think I handled labour better than someone who doesn't have endo because my periods have always been really painful so I'm used to that kind of pain. Will always remember the midwife seeing how far I had dilated and I was 7cm and she said that looking at me you wouldn't be able to tell i was in labour and I said that's because I'm used to painful periods lol!

Thank you for your reply. I suppose it’s a case of just waiting to see what happens. I suppose I am just worried as I want to get through labour etc and not worry to much but I think this is natural is our situation. I am being watched more by my midwife and having regular checks. I suppose I will just when to be ready for the day. Hope you are okay smile πŸ˜ƒ xxxx

Congrats!

I have stage 4 endo with bowel/uterus adhesions. I had a very fast labour, about 1.5 hrs and didn't make it to the hospital. I just had 2 paracetamol and a few puffs of gas when the paramedics arrived. The pain actually wasn't too bad at all, but I didn't feel like I was having contractions, more like a continuous pain until the baby was literally coming. I missed the 1st stage of labour completely, endo related or not I don't know. A consultant I saw before the birth said that women with endo often come to the hospital later because they're more used to the pain. The other thing she mentioned was some concern if a c-section was needed it would be more complicated so they made a note on my file about that.

My lb is now 2 and I still have painful periods though not as bad as before at all, does vary a bit, but defo interferes less with my life than before. I bf and didn't have a period until 8-9 months after the birth which was nice!

Thank you for your reply! I am hoping this happens to me but given my scar tissue I think otherwise. I suppose I will just have to try and be ready for the day as much as possible l. Hope you are well ❀️ xxxx
