Has anyone had to take the above before a laparoscopy? Is it terrible?

Hi I have taken this a few times as I have had several colonoscopies and one laparoscopy.

It tells you to mix the powder with x amount of water then drink it (the volume is quite a lot and it’s just disgusting to taste). So what I do is put the powder into a glass, maybe 2 inches of diluting orange juice in it and then down it. You have all of the mixture in your body. I then drink lots of tap water so I am getting the volume of fluid I need.

You need to be close to a toilet, you may have to run.

It takes a few hours for it to go through my body but everyone is different x

Hey! I’ve taken picolax a few times before laparoscopies and it’s totally fine. It’s not a lot to drink at all, not compared to Moviprep which is 2L!!

My top tip is to use cold water and down it through a straw so you don’t get too much of the taste on your tongue. Good luck! xx

Yes-I have taken Picolax. It’s obviously not the best but a necessity. And not too disastrous really! As Megandmog states, it is less volume than the Moviprep. It seems a huge amount by comparison and is like the magic porridge pot - goes on forever!

Good luck and all the best with your laparoscopy. It will soon be over and done with and you can hopefully relax a little. 💐👍🏼
