Hi, so I have had Lower stomach pain most of my adult life. I’m now 28. Been under gynaecologist for many years. March last year I finally got my 6 month review with my gynaecologist after waiting a few year for this review. He done a complete ultrasound scan. He come to the conclusion that I may have endometriosis and referred me urgently for a lascoprosy. He also prescribed me a number of meds one which was a monthly injection just above my bum/ lower back. I took more or less some type of hemorage and gp had to get permission from gynaecologist to prescribe them which he did. I finished the course it was finally starting to help a little but gp won’t give me them any more until gynaecologist sees me again. I have waited well over a year for this lascoprosy. Any advise on how I can get this pushed along

Hi

I’d phone the gynaecologist secretary to find out what’s happening. You shouldn’t be waiting that long even with covid. The guidelines are supposed to be within 18 weeks for an op. If you can’t get hold of her/him speak to PALS. If it were me I wouldn’t let them use covid as an excuse for the delay. Your GP can also contact them, but from experience I still have to step in.

Is the lap just for diagnosis or treatment as well if it’s there. Your consultant seemed to know about endo, are they a specialist?

Good luck, let us know how you get on

Thank you for your reply. I live in Northern Ireland but we are part of the UK. I feel like I’m always on at them and all I get is oh we have sent this and that. Today I started my monthly and it’s the worst pain I have felt in a good few months. I haven’t been able to eat today with the pain and the awful feeling that everything is from the bottom of my stomach and pelvis is going to fall out 😢

I’ve had to chase with a few different referrals, but had success. GP did a referral for ultrasound, the place was only doing one day a week during covid. I said if I find somewhere else would they refer. Yes they’d support me, ha! The local hospital had appointments, surgery said they did the refer, dept didn’t receive and they contacted surgery. Turns out they’d sent to a defunct email 😂. I’ve had to micro manage a couple so far.

You should be under the same regulations. Another possibility is go through PALS at the hospital, they sometimes have their moments of getting answers.

I’ve never heard of them. It’s only ever my GP or gynaecologist that does my referral. A year past April I was admitted to hospital with tonsillitis for a week they were worried I had Quincy or it would turn into Quincy. I had so much pain and tears tripping me trying to walk from my bed to the toilet a nurse asked me if I was ok I explained to her and she got the doctor to come and see me he said he will let gynaecologist know all they said is to contact my gp I was furious as my consultant is at that hospital

That’s appalling health care.

I didn’t explain about PALS, sorry, they are the hospital go to about complaints. They will contact the department and let them know what the patient or family are concerned about and try to help resolve the issue. Reading your post, you have more than one. It might speed things up.

I think they say go back to GP as funding referrals comes from GP budget, if the hospital refers it’s theirs. At the end of the day all money comes from local CCG.

Get the gp to expedite it. I did and was in with in a few weeks for my surgery xx

I also find take someone in with you to an appointment to get this pushed through, if you are in pain it’s so so hard to be strong and forceful which unfortunately is what you need to be while in agony.

I was being ignored non stop by my female GP so I took my husband in and explained to her I’m in so much pain, my husband is coming to listen and digest what you say.

I kid you not the difference in her was unbloody believable, she sat up straight eye contact, clear explanation, no bolloks like usual.

I’ve heard from many other on Instagram and forums the same, they don’t like it but it works.
