Hi everyone! Just a little post to see if this can help anyone or if anyone needs advice. I am now 21, 22 in September and 7 years ago I had my first endometriosis symptom. Throughout these years I’ve been in constant pain, heavy periods, heavy spotting, nausea, painful sex and bleeding after sex. The doctors told me I was being dramatic and it’s all part of growing up but I knew this wasn’t right. Last year I’d had enough of dealing with the amount of pain I was experiencing - I bought my mum to the doctors with me and we pushed and pushed until I got a laparoscopy. Although I had to wait a year for it, I finally had it done on Monday. What was supposed to take my surgeon 30 mins took them 4 hours due to what they found. I had 8 cysts on my right ovary, 6 on my left and a 3 cm cyst within my left ovary all with endometriosis growing on its surroundings and on the ovaries itself. I now have been diagnosed with endometriosis.
The point I am trying to make is, please be pushy with your doctors! Due to me not having this laparoscopy earlier on, I now have a damaged left ovary at the age of 21. I am in so much pain currently but in a couple of weeks it should all calm down. I also had the mirena coil inserted to help with the endo and the pain.
If anyone has any questions or advice on how to deal with a painful laparoscopy and endo surgery please let me know! All the best everyone👊🏽👏🏽xx

Well done for pushing and having good support. It’s hard to do.
Give yourself time to recover, don’t overdue things or rush. Arnica can help with bruising. If they’ve prescribed painkillers best to keep to a routine, if they haven’t your GP surgery will now bend over backwards to help 😂. Take advantage of the speed you’ll get things done. They have a lot to make up for!
First of all well done for pushing for further investigation but what a shame it’s taken 7 years and the attitudes towards you and your symptoms!! Still something we much change!
I just wanted to say I hope the marina coil works out well for you. I was diagnosed when I was 30 via a laparoscopy after suffering for 15 years. I had a marina coil and that worked for the pain for me, I still bleed but no way near as much however it was for 2 weeks every 2 weeks. I had 2 marinas over 10 years then at the age of 41 I also had adenomyosis so I had a hysterectomy.
I ended up in chronic pain 7 weeks post hysterectomy and ended up with a laparoscopy 16 months later and the endometriosis had returned. That was 7 months ago and unfortunately pain had returned to but to the same degree and not everyday thank god!
I just wish I could of stuck with the marina coil as life was not dictated to by pain So much then!
Here to you celebrating your 22nd birthday pain free 🙏🏼🎉 x
Thank you for your reply! That must have been awful for you. I’m so sorry to hear this. I hope things are working out better for you now and less pain.
Woo! Fingers crossed I’ll be celebrating my 22nd birthday in much less pain!🥰👊🏽
