6 weeks post endometriosis removal, terrible cramps

Hi ladies. 6 weeks ago I had laparoscopic surgery to have a small cyst (5 cm) and endometriosis removed. On a side note, I also have adenomyosis but have most likely had it for a long time without any symptoms. I was told that I would feel immediate relief after after the surgery and I did for about a week but for the past 3 weeks I have had constant period like cramping that never goes away and extreme bloating every time I even look at food, also extreme pressure in my bladder when I have to pee. I'm afraid that I will now experience these symptoms for the rest of my life and they are much worse than what I started with! Am I overreacting? Will the symptoms subside after some time? If I knew they would be gone in a months time I wouldn't worry but it's very difficult to live my life right now. Has anyone else experienced similar this long after surgery and did it eventually go away?

Hi

So you shouldn't have been told it would be immediate relief. Your body is definitely still healing so pain is to be expected, it usually takes a few months before you're healed internally after removing endo.

Also during healing you can have good and bad weeks, sometimes you may over exert yourself and that puts more strain on your body and its ability to heal.

Thanks Christin. I guess I just have to be patient! I was just worried as the pain is constant every single day and I never felt this bad pre surgery. I work in fitness so taking it easy is not an option, I already took 3 weeks off of work. Will wait it out and report back in another couple of months xx

Hey Kfit, I experienced pain and disconfort in my bladder for like two months after my surgery, was even considering physical therapy when it finally healed and been ok since =) just have to give youlself some time to heal as your body has been through a massive deal. Good luck

Thanks DDee, sad to know that you had to go through the same ordeal but comforted in the fact that you got through it! xx
