I have been suffering with my latest particularly bad flare up for around 4 weeks now. I literally have to have my hot water on my stomach all day and night to try and ease the pains even just a little bit.
My question is: is it bad for you (and your insides) to have a hot water bottle on them all the time. My husband worries that it might be harming or damaging my organs and insides.
I have tried googling it but it just warns about skin burns, nothing about inside the body.

Hey! Sorry to hear about the pain I was in a similar position before my op a few months back and my consultant was more than happy for me to use my hot water bottle to ease endo pain - however please be really careful to not burn your skin as I have still got a mottled looking belly 4 months since using one from burning it! As far as I’m aware it can’t hurt your insides but I’m no expert! Hope it eases soon x
Thank you for your advice. I have it in a fluffy case and i always apply it over my clothes too just to be extra safe. Just wanted to double check I wasn’t cooking my organs lol x
I read something about this too but it wasn’t very clear so had a look into alternatives and found some cooling patches on line which looked like they had good reviews. I’ve only just bought them so yet to try but I’m hoping they might be a good alternative to my hot water bottle!xx
Hey there! Sorry to hear your flare up is lasting such a long time. I absolutely love a hot water bottle and it does wonders for some people. The internet is right in ensuring you are aware of potential skin burns, heat rashes etc. I always aim to not have the bottle always on my bare stomach and sometimes pop it over my top or blanket. Another idea (if you're concerned that the hot water bottle is being used frequently) is having warm baths, showers etc. If you're experiencing any perineum pain, sometimes freezing a wet sanitary towel (cold also works as well as hot in some instances). Other ways to mix up the use of the hot water bottle can include things like heated blankets but these are more expensive. Lots of love to you and hope you feel better from this flare up xx
