Anyone here get insomnia after having Prostap injection. I had my injection on 23/02/20. Will the side effect get better later?

Prostap side effect
Hi, Sorry hear you having issues I was on Prostap for 18months, for the first 3 months I felt terrible couldnt sleep, bones ached, hair fail out and loads of other issues. I was put on HRT patches by my doctors which within a month I felt so much better. I have had hysterectomy 7 months go so no longer need prostap, but I would speak to your doctor because I remember how I felt and it not nice place to be in.
Take care
Hello Sezvic,
Do you have any idea how long you might be on Prostap for? Insomnia is a potential side effect of this treatment and is associated with the hypoestrogenic (oestrogen deficient) state the drug induces as your body needs oestrogen to metabolise melatonin (the hormone that aids sleep). However, the severity of any insomnia side effects often can be alleviated with add-back HRT (which adds back a bit of functional oestrogen).
Maybe have a chat to your prescribing specialist / GP about your options if it may be that you will be on the injections for more than a couple of months? Definitely get in touch with them anyway and tell them that you are struggling to sleep as they should be monitoring your treatment and any side effects.
