I’ve had the mirena coil for about 11 months now. My Gynaecologist suggested it to decrease my endometriosis symptoms. I love the coil, I have barely any pain, hardly any periods and since I work in musical theatre it means I can live my life! HOWEVER, gradually over the year I have gotten awful acne on my chest, neck and back. I saw a skin specialist who prescribed antibiotics but it hasn’t worked at all. It’s gotten so bad that I’m debating removing the coil but it’s so great for other reasons that I want to find a solution to my skin. The acne is really getting me down so any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
Molly

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your feeling low about your acne. I would suggest using the Simple facial wash as it is fragrance free. using anything scented on your face could make it worse. You can also use micellar water after washing the face to remove any impurities on the skin. Make sure you have a balance diet and are eating lots of fruit and veg. Fish is good as it balances the hormone levels in your body. Drink plenty of water too! Meditiation is a great way to relax the body from any stress you may be feeling so definitely try that out for sure! Fresh air and exercise will help too! Keep a journal of foods you eat and may be allergic to as this could be what is causing your acne?
I really hope this helps! And good luck! I hope you will feel better soon! Take care of yourself!
Such a kind reply, thank you! The food journal is a good idea! I can see what may trigger it so I’m going to do that. I eat pretty healthy and exercise for a living so that’s not a problem but perhaps certain food groups! And we’re all stressed in some way or another eh!
I have started using a brand called nip+fab. You can get it from boots or off their website. It is expensive but it really works for me. I have the cleanser, day time and night time exfoliaters, night time toner, hydrating serum and I’ve used some of there masks too.
Thanks Kales! I’ll see what they have to offer in Boots. My acne is neck, chest and back based so I wonder if that changes things but I’ll definitely investigate, thank you for the suggestion! Xx
Hi Molly, have you tried Zineryt prescribed by doctor? It’s an antibiotic ointment and I was really sceptical thinking it wouldn’t work, but it really helped my skin! Good luck x
