Adenomyosis help? (Endometriosis of the womb)

Hi everyone 👋🏻

I’ve struggled with server endometriosis from the age of 14 (now 28) and I’ve had many laparoscopies which have helped over the years. I recently had another one but my doctor has told me that the endometriosis has now gone inside my uterus wall and has become server adenomyosis. Unfortunately they were not able to remove any of it during the surgery. I’ve been told my only options are now either a hysterectomy or Zoladex injections. I definitely want to have children in the next few years so a hysterectomy is out of the question for me. I’ve also read so many horror stories about the injections that I would really prefer not to go down that route either.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and able to offer any other alternatives that have worked for them?

I’m desperate to return to work as I’ve been off since October but I’m beginning to worry that this is it for the foreseeable future. It’s really getting me down so any help/advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much :)

L

Hi,

I had Zoladex injections before surgery and IVF last year. The injections themselves aren't really that bad but I did suffer with the side effects. I suffered for a month or so and then I was put on some 'add-back' treatment, this really helped to reduce the side effects to almost nothing. The 'add-back' treatment I had was a form of HRT. The injections really helped to suppress my endometriosis before my surgery and IVF. As long as you can have 'add-back' treatment, I think you should be ok with zoladex however everyone's experience will be different. It took me a long time to decide whether to have zoladex injections or not but having them was the right decision for me in the end as I am now 26 weeks pregnant with my first baby.

I am happy to answer any other questions that you might have. Good luck with your journey! xx
