I have just been diagnosed with Severe Endometriosis following a laparoscopy and have a few questions with regards to referral to a specialist BSGE Endometriosis centre.
How long from referral have people had to wait for an initial appointment? When? And where in the country/which centre?
How long from initial appointment to treatment?
I had my diagnositic laparoscopy at a BMI private hospital as an NHS patient - Can the consultant make the referral? Or will it not be accepted because it is a private hospital? Do I need to wait for them to write to my GP and get the GP to make the referral?

Waiting it usually around 3-4 months but that will vary from area to area.
You'll have to check with the consultant's secretary what the referral process is because it varies from trust to trust and between different specialisms.
Hi, I also had a laparoscopy at a BMI clinic, they will refer you on to a BSGE clinic but if they dont you'll need to see your GP to ask for the referral. Whatever you do don't let a non specialist attempt the surgery, from experience they only laser the endo which is pointless. You'll need excision. Good luck x,
