Hello, I'm new to the group and just wanted to see if there were anyone with some advice for me. I have suffered with Endometriosis for the past 15 years finally diagnosed 2015. I have been struggling recently with really bad PMS to the point it's effecting my day to day life. I have been to see my GP and asked to be put back on OCP but they won't give it me cause of my migraines I'm at high risk of stroke. They want to put my on Anti Depressants, Im really not sure I should??

Hello

I'm on sertraline following both my parents being diagnosed with cancer and my mum passing. I'm 26 and have Endo, the sertraline hasn't impacted my symptoms at all but has helped me hugely in managing my mood and generally feeling more in control of my emotions. I would push for sertraline as the anti depressant of choice. Although some anti depressants are used for chronic pain so they may be trying to put you on one of these (called TCAs) and im not sure of the side effects of this or impact on Endo. X

Thank you for replying Hun, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. I'm glad it's helping you and I understand why you have been put on anti depressants. I just don't understand why they want to use them for PMS? Xx

I was put into Fluoxetine after suffering a range of anxiety and panic attacks earlier this year. I've also just been diagnosed with Endo. My PMS made my anxiety about 1000x worse and it's amazing how free I feel now I'm on the antidepressants. Have a research online. Many doctors prescribe them for PMDD which is basically really really bad PMS with a mix of depression thrown in.

Thank you for replying I'm glad your feeling much better. Yeah I have no depression at all it's just my PMS as soon as I'm not ovulating or on my period I'm perfectly fine. I've decided to try herbal remedies first for women's health and PMS relief and if that doesn't improve it I will try the anti depressants. Many thanks
