Hi,

I had my first Zoladex injection on 8th October. Yesterday I started my period and it is the most painful ever. Did anyone else experience this?

Hello,

You are not alone, this is quite common.

When you first take GnRH Analogues like Zolodex they cause what is called a “flare effect”. This flare can exacerbate your symptoms and make them all worse before the drug fully suppresses your cycle and your periods stop.

Everything should settle in a few weeks (4-6 they usually say), but it is always worth flagging it up with your GP / prescribing consultant so they and you can keep an eye on your flare symptoms and make sure that they resolve.
