Newbie, sharing my story

Hi all,

I've been having undiagnosed pain on my right, mid back down to my hip for at least 9 yrs. I was always convinced it was an alignment issue and bounced around to different chiropractors because no one could fix the issue.

The beginning of the year I received an abnormal pap and had to eventually get a LEEP procedure done. But all these issues I have had started to make me wonder if there was more to this mysterious back pain. I've always had painful periods where I could feel it in my legs and feet and it'd be waking me up at 3 am in horrible pain, like I am now. Anyway, I thought these things were just part of being a woman and I've accepted them.

I have noticed my mysterious back pain gets worse the closer I am to my period and during. It's the type of pain that comes in waves. It reaches a max intensity, sometimes bringing me to my knees or to the point of vomiting, and then fades away. It has a mind of its own and there's very little I can do to manage it. But just out of curiosity I brought it up to my gynaecologist and he thinks it's endometriosis but he says I have bigger issues at the moment like getting a normal pap result, I get that. But he did say (I live in Canada) birth control is the first thing to try to see if it helps manage the symptoms.

Has anyone had any luck with the pill? I've always been one to stay away from birth control but I'm starting to rethink its value.

Anyone with a similar story?
