Is ablation bad?

I’ve been put on the waiting list for more surgery as my gynae didn’t remove it last July during my lap (he told me he did but that’s another story haha). Anyways he said he will burn it away but I’ve heard so many horror stories and people telling me not to get it burned away as it causes more problems.

I’m a bit worried as I don’t want more issues after this surgery or cause scar tissues, adhesions etc as a complication which I’m being told ablation will.

Any advice would be so helpful 💛

My advice is find a doctor who does excition and is endometriosis especialist. Ablation is pointless in my opinion. Cause more problems, it did for me. Good luck

Thank you, if you don’t mind me asking, what problems did ablation cause for you?

Like litterally everything got worse after the operation ..pain , scar tissue, adhesions, my ovaries got stuck toghether, cause me infertility. It was a mess, would never do ablation again.

Omg I’m so sorry to hear that. Yeah I just know it’s going to be a long process of trying to get referred to an excision specialist but I don’t want things to get worse if I get ablation done

I dont know your case but I think is definitely worth to wait for someone who is trained and experienced in excision.

After doing much research before my surgery, i chose a doctor who performs excision surgery rather than ablation. I never heard good stories about it and my own consultant advised excision was the best thing. All the best

Thank you, it’s so strange my gynae/surgeon has suggest ablation instead of excision

Maybe he/she is only trained in ablation. I know the proper method for removal of endometriosis is excision, and many lead consultants only perform excision surgery to treat the condition. That's what i found from my research anyway x

What is ablation ? I had severe endometriosis. Hence, I had a hysterectomy at 28 years old. They removed some of my endo, but left my ovaries because of my young age. But I had the neck of my cervix removed. Hence, I will never need a smear test doing again.

Ablation is removing the endometriosis with a laser. I spoke to my GP this morning about it and because of my age (I’m 20) and profession as a golfer, ablation would suit me better at the minute
