Half marathon training...

Are there any runners on here? I have my first half marathon in 4 weeks time (Royal Parks London) and my training has been such a struggle. Whenever I am close to my period I experience intense contractions during my run. Sometimes I can push through the pain, sometimes I cannot. Even when I take tramadol and paramol before a run the pain can still occur! I just wonder if anyone has any tips for dealing with intense pain whilst running? I think I will be due on when I take part in the half marathon which is so unlucky!

Hi,

I usef to run but not anymore.

But the best thing I did to prevent contractions is to stop mu periods.

I couldn't run around my periods. But after taking hormonal treatments, it wasn't an issue.

I cycle now and also not having periods helps hugely.

Hello, thanks for your reply. I did have the Mirena coil a couple of years ago and I noticed that if I ran any longer than 5km I would get cystitis pains after a run and I think it was due to the coil! I am waiting for a lap with an Endo specialist in London and need to figure out whether to get the coil fitted during the op again.

I see.

I hope your excision surgery goes well.

And maybe the surgery will give you a relief.

Good luck!
