High ca125 and endometrioma
I had a ruptured endometrioma and my ca125 was really high, I think it was around 1800 when I was in hospital with severe pain - I had it retested a few weeks later and it had gone down to 90 the consultant I saw said it can be raised by any inflammation x
I was told at the hospital that endometriosis can definitely raise your CA125 levels xxx
Hi 👋🏻
I had a test which had raised ca125 marker which concerned my GP (he has little understanding of endometriosis) so I was sent for a pelvic scan. I wasn’t worried as had had excision surgery around 18 months before and was told that my ovaries were good.
Anyway, my ovaries were fine on the scan so I was advised that without the presence of any masses on my ovaries that the high ca125 was down to inflammation caused by endo (probably!)
Hope that helps.
Yes, CA125 is not considered a reliable test for cancer in pre-menopausal women because it can be raised by endometriosis and other things. I had a raised result caused by an endometrioma and other endo. Having a raised CA125 can be a good thing because it can speed up how quickly you get seen and progress through the initial steps until they exclude cancer! xx
In some endo sufferers it is high, in some it isn't. CA125 is not a diagnostic tool at all, doesn't work and should not be used by phycians. I hope that makes it clear
I sure hope so! Mine is raised at 165, and I have what they think are 6.7cm bilateral endometriomas on both ovaries. Surgery is in a few days to have them removed (along with a hysto) so I’ll know for sure soon.
