Burning sensation

Hello everyone. When I have intercourse with my partner I get a severe stinging feeling on the outside of my vagina. It only happens on the outside and when he’s inserting his penis, not during and I don’t get pain during either. It isn’t caused by lube as it happens even without lube! It also isn’t an STI as I’ve been checked and I have a long term partner..

Please can anyone help?!

Hi, have you checked for thrush or bacterial vaginosis? I think you can get a test and treatment from your pharmacy? I had recurrent thrush with my endo which caused general itchiness there and transferred to my hubby but he was too polite to mention, so we both needed to use the canesten thrush cream (checked with pharmacist first).

Other things; washing powder / fabric softener? if you / partner use those it could be sensitive there so perhaps wash underwear with non scented non bio - bio makes me itchy. How about body wash? that shouldn't be used for either persons parts; I learned from experience same as you that it made penetration itchy. You can get feminine washes which your guy can use too, stick specifically to those as they're balanced for there.

Sometimes you'll find you just become sensitive to certain things. Weirdly enough it can be stuff he's eaten / drank that you're sensitive too; like beer, gluten, sugar, dairy (it's crazy but those things do come out on our skin, urine, and pre-cum (sorry if tmi).

Baby wipes can help to get rid of excess urea (from urine) rather than washing before sex, and especially in warm weather. Use the fragrance free ones.

Um it does make a difference on circumcised or not... it can be exposed to underwear / body wash etc, or it can need extra cleaning / retraction to remove everyday stuff. Both could irritate. It's good to talk about hygiene (even if it's embarrassing, put simply those bits are in contact!) but don't go OTT on the cleaning as that can ruin the natural balance.

Hopefully one of those works for you x

Hi! It sounds like it could be a yeast infection or vaginitis/vaginosis.

Check this link:

They are both quite common with all women and can be even more common with Endo!

Take some yogurt with probiotics!
