Hi...

I had surgery last year in October to excise and treat stage 4 endometriosis..I was fine for 2 months and then things went downhill again..in March I was diagnosed with severe adenomyosis...at my followup on the 1st of May my BSGE accredited consultant did an internal exam and ultrasound and we decided that a hysterectomy would be my best option...i also have suspected endometriosis in my belly button and adhesions caused by endometriosis...all of which will be sorted in my surgery.. i have 2 children... boy and a girl and fertility wise I am not concerned...my surgery date is set for August and due to the severity of my pain and constant a&e trips they are trying to bring it closer... I was told that the surgery will take long... I am very nervous about it and was wondering how long will recovery take before I can be back to normal,?... I am generally a very active person and try my best to get on with things but this time I have been strictly advise I must rest... also bowel prep was not mentioned in my preop..would I need to do one?

Hi,

Am sorry to hear you didn't get relief long term.Kindly could you tell what symptoms you have that led them to believe you have endometriosis in your bellybutton? You are so lucky in that you already have two children.I have suspected endometriosis in my bellybutton and blocked fallopian tubes due to adhesions from my hsg report.Am sorry I couldn't help with your case but since bellybutton endo is so rare, I had to ask.Am being dismissed regarding that and being told to proceed with IVF but am worried I may get complications while taking IVF Meds or later when pregnant and it's too late

Aww bless..yes I count myself very lucky to have been blessed with 2 children...i hope your dream of children is fulfilled very soon...my symptoms are that before and after each period the scars in my belly button from my previous surgeries blow up n pop..my go took swabs n each time it came back positive for infection..I'd have a full ccourse of antibiotics and it just keeps returning so at my followup my BSGE accredited consultant took a look and said it definitely looks like it and she will deal with it in my surgery...

Thank you so much for your reply. My pain also coincides with my period but there is no discharge. It's been happening for the last 5years.MRI only showed a hemorragic cyst.During my next appointment for ultrasound before beginning IVF,I'll bring it up again with my fertility specialist and see what he has to say.Good luck with your upcoming operation.
