Hysterectomy

Hi all,

So I’ve just had a 6 month dose of zolodex which I hated being on because of the menopausal symptoms (weight gain, hot flushes, head aches). The endo symptoms returned a month after my last injection.

I’ve just had my follow up and have been told the next step is a hysterectomy. This obviously feels like a massive step and I’m again worried about having all the menopause symptoms.

What is everyone’s experience of life after a hysterectomy?

I’m 32 so not sure if I should hold out and just try to cope with the endo until it gets worse.

On another note - does endo get worse? As in it’ll continue to grow and my symptoms will get worse?

My pain is sore but manageable, I have itchiness which comes and goes but is very uncomfortable when it does come, and IBS type symptoms daily.

It seems like such a massive step so I’m trying to weigh it all up so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hiya,

I had a total hysterectomy and removal of both ovaries and tubes in Feb this year when I was 28.

I had been on both prostap and zoladex previously and had some menopausal symptoms but nothing too unmanageable.

Since the operation the surgical menopause symptoms have been bad and have lead to further issues for me.

Personally, I would say that if you hated zoladex because of the menopausal symptoms not to really consider if you could cope with a hysterectomy as surgical menopause is always worse than any other type.

Xx
