I was diagnosed yesterday with Fibromyalgia. I have had some of the symptoms for 20+ years but the rest of the symptoms developed immediately after a diagnostic laparoscopy for endometriosis.
I have read that surgery can trigger fibro. Has anyone else both endometriosis and fibromyalgia? Has anyone developed fibromyalgia symptoms after their laparoscopy?
Many thanks xx

Yes I have Fibromyalgia, but mine started after I’d been diagnosed with Lupus. I’ve only recently been diagnosed with endometriosis but suspect it’s been the cause of my heavy bleeding for years. I know Fibromyalgia can be triggered by trauma of any kind, so it’s perfectly reasonable to assume that your laparoscopy triggered yours.
Incidentally I had my first lap last October and it didn’t trigger any new Fibromyalgia symptoms for me. But I was in hospital with chest pains recently which turned out to be Pericarditis (inflammation around the heart) and that has triggered a massive Fibromyalgia flare up. So you just never know what’s going to trigger it.
Make sure you pace yourself (do you work?)and try not to over exert too much. I find it can be managed with drugs and pacing.
I am so sorry to hear about your health problems. Gosh you have more than your fair share of issues. I hope that you are managing them.
The pacing is a very good idea. I always end up doing too much on a good day and then end up not being able to get up off the sofa for the next 3 days!
Please take care of yourself and I hope you get the help and support you need.
