Hi all,

After having a previously good experience at my previous job with endometriosis and flexible working arrangements; I have now been refused home working as my manager says if I am ill I should simply go home. I am now stuck on what to do at work I previously had an occupational health referral who said I am covered under the equalities act. I am actually working at the same company as I previously had a good experience with so just wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do with this please and how to maybe get this looked at again, I feel my manager doesn’t understand and is resistant to the idea. I am thinking of presenting all my medical notes in the hope it may change it? Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks!

I had this, OH suggested reasonable adjustments be made and that reasonable adjustment was working from home a few times a month and flexible working hours (traveling during rush hour on 3 trains was becoming too problematic)

Have you discussed any reasonable adjustments with your current manager?, they really need to offer something as you’re covered under the equality act 2010. You could explain this could reduce your absence record etc. It certainly improved mine and it’s been 5 months since I last took a sick day. I’d put together a little plan of reasonable adjustments along medical records and maybe a copy of the OH report and how this would benefit the business better and yourself than you merely just staying home sick (explain the guilt being off sick with endo causes, which in turn leads to stress which in turn leads to more flare ups) and present to your manager in a positive way.

Good luck xx

Does your company have occupational health? You work for the same company and clearly your boss previously was very good and made adjustment, your new boss however can’t just make up his/her own rules to suit!

Maybe get a letter from your GP to say you need reasonable adjustments, tell the GP what you would like and get it put in the letter.

OH won’t overrule your GP :)

Good luck & go higher than your boss if need be x
