For the past three weeks I have been in a flare up which does not seem to be easing and seems to be getting worse. Doctor came out to see me on Wednesday and said I just have to bare with it until 30th July. Absolutely fuming.
I am in pain which my fentanyl patch is barely helping, I feel so unwell and when I move it makes it worse. I’m getting to that point where I’m just really fed up and exhausted 😢
I have managed to get booked in to see a endometriosis specialist tomorrow privately for £200! Just wondering if anyone knows what to expect? Or how I can prepare myself?
Thank you

Hey, I would make a log of all your symptoms and write down any meds ect, however I have found with a private appointment they tend to usually take the lead since your paying, hope it goes well x
Similar to yourself I decided to go private because my nhs appointment kept being pushed backwards and I was getting through each day on tramadol, codine, morphine and other pain meds but still in pain.
It was the best thing I did!!!
I saw the specialist, he was wonderful. Really listened to me. We chatted for about 30 mins and I came away knowing that he was going to look at my previous laparoscopy pictures as well as the MRI scan I'd had 6 weeks before and still waiting for the appointment form hospital to discuss it's findings! It was then Easter. Just after I had a letter saying that he was happy to operate what we had discussed. A full hysterectomy in my case and offered me to go on his his lost of 4 months or to pay privately. I went private and the op date was 2 weeks after I called to book it.
My advise would be to make sure they know you are self funding, if he offers tests ask how much before you say yes. And also find out if they offer a re payment plan. I also found that I've felt fobbed off before when asking questions on the nhs but no at all when private. If you have any questions, just ask.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. Its awful getting through life on such strong pain relief! I saw the private specialist and all I can say is wow he was so amazing and wants do an operation to remove the endometriosis which I was previously told could not be removed. Only issue is I’m looking at anywhere between £3,500 to £12,000!! He said I can try get referred to him via the NHS. I’m glad you got listened to ☺️x
Hi, I’m glad the appointment went well. That seams like an awful lot. I would defo recommend private too if you can afford it. I had my Lap private and pain only about £2,600 my surgeon was one of the best endo specialists in the country private message me if you want his details. X
Hi, my GP initially refused to refer me on to an endo specialist so I paid for an initial appointment privately and the surgeon said I need to see him but because I couldn’t afford privately he said my GP can refer me back to him through the NHS x
That is so sad that the gp refused. I went in to see a female gp and asked her I couldnt do anymore hospital admissions for the pelvis pain every 2months and that I wanted to be referred to a endo centre with faster surgery date she said she couldnt see any appointments. The next day I went in again and saw a Male gp and he was annoyed the fact that I been suffering with so much hospital admissions that he said let me see if there is any other places and that's when I gave him the 3 list of endo centre to be referred to and he found me a date whereas the female doctor didnt even try. I hope you manage to get a referral via NHS, this chronic condition is not known by many and needs to be given more understanding to people. The pain and suffering is so hard for us ladies. x
