Endo decision

I am looking for some advice or what was like for those who havd experienced it. I have stage 4 endo and had lap done 4 to 5 years ago to remove by a bgse specialist. For the padt 18 months the pain has returned. He didnt want to operate due to scar tissue build up and having to do it again in future years. So we tried different meds to help which unfortunately didnt work. I see him again in 6 weeks while we wait for scan results but he said i need to think about the future ie kids. I am 27 and very conflicted by what to do. I have read people have had medication that has essentially done what a hysterectomy does. My doctor has briefly mentioned this but thought maybe he was waiting to see what my decision is. Has anyone aaid yes to the hysterectomy and tried medication before hand or just had the medication? If so how was it after and how did you feel?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that, i have stage 4 endo that was diagnosed after laparoscopy when DH and I were TTC. I have taken the meds you mention to a certain extent but it was to supress my ovaries during IVF cycles. It essentially puts your body in menopause and you do get all the symptims associated with menopause. My understanding is that you can only take them for 6 months at a given time. I wouldn't worry too much about kids if you're not ready. Lots of women have kids and don't ecen know they have endo, just be mindful that you way need to go down the assisted conception route. Endo is horrible mine manifests itself in the form of very large endometriomas. My last lap in Feb was to drain a 20cm cyst.

Hi thanks for this advice. You have given me some info about the meds i didnt know. I have a similar experience with how it manifests as i currently have a cyst (size not known as was told while going for a camera scan after an mri) pressing against my bladder but also the ultrasound showed them smaller but in other places.

I have stage4 endo too, and 27 years old, am currently waiting for a date for surgery, i have also been given the prostap injection (temporary menopause) i have a 7cm cyst on one ovary and 5cm in the other, doc said i will lose some ovary in my surgery, but have said if its left untreated it will affect ovary function and getting it treated could improve spontaneous pregnancy as i would like to have kids in the future, i personally wouldn't go for hysterectomy at this age, have u considered going for the menopause injection?
