Vertigo

I've been suffering with intermittent horrendous spells of vertigo for 14 months now. The worst episodes come on in the middle of the night. I am ok when I go to bed but wake up around 3am with everything spinning, vomit over and over, sometimes diarrhoea as well. I have no sense of balance at all for several hours.

I've had vestibular physiotherapy and had been discharged with maintenance exercises a few weeks ago. I did them very conscientiously. The cause of my vertigo was never identified but was told it wasn't BPPV or labyrinthitis. I was told if I kept up with the maintenance exercises the problem should not come back. However, it came back even worse a couple of weeks ago, narrowly avoided hospital due to the severity of the symptoms.

I'm now a lot better but certainly not back to normal, very exhausted and slow and can't be bothered with much.

I think maybe I need further investigation. I wondered if it could be Meniere's disease but not especially noticed hearing loss. However, I've had a minor sore ear for several years which only ever happens during the night and I don't notice it in the day. My ear has been looked at a few times by the doctor but nothing to be seen.

Does anyone relate to this or have any advice please?
