Loosing my identity

Anyone else feel that their endo has stripped them off their identity. I used to be so fun loving easy going and always smiling now I’m a ball of anxiety constantly grouchy and always crying. I just want to be me again. Have surgery on the 22nd for a full hysterectomy and at 38 I’m scared but I’m so ready for this to be over. I know it’s not a cure and it could come back. But I’m willing to take the chance.

Has anyone who’s has had surgery ever returned to feeling amazing again. I just want to escape this funk that I’m in x

Hi Smileyblonde,

Thank you for your message and sorry to hear you are suffering and not feeling yourself.

I just wanted to let you know that as well as the forum, Endometriosis UK run support groups if you wanted to meet people who understand what you are going through. You can see if there is one near you here:

endometriosis-uk.org/find-a...

We also have a free confidential helpline run by volunteers, all of whom have experience with endometriosis if you feel you need someone to speak to. You can find the opening times here:

endometriosis-uk.org/helpline

Please also see here for our Hysterectomy Information Pack, which gives you information from making the decision to have a Hysterectomy, right the way through to how you may feel afterwards. At the bottom of the pack, there are also further Hysterectomy – information support contacts:
