Hi there,

I had some eggs frozen last year (age 31). I’m in Australia so things may be a little different, but I did A LOT of research on fertility clinics and which one suited my needs the best. When I found a clinic and specialist that I was happy with I got my GP to refer me. I got a lot of pre education from nursing staff (though it did help that I’m a nurse myself), and my specialist worked with me to get things just right. Be prepared for PLENTY of blood tests. It wasn’t my endo but my PCOS that presented issues prior to egg retrieval as I ended up with mild/moderate hyper stimulation syndrome and became a bit unwell. In the end I had 16 eggs retrieved but because of my PCOS only 8 were frozen (due to egg quality).

I’m more than happy to answer any questions you, or anyone, might have.

Hi, I don’t know how it works, I asked my fertility clinic and they said it wasn’t something they do and I would have to go private. I didn’t look into it because of cost but I’m sure if you make an appointment they will answer all your questions x

Hi, I recently got my eggs frozen a couple of months ago, however my situation is a little different since will be starting my egg transfer in April. You would be getting a lot of sonograms and put on medication/shots to stimulate eggs. You would want to research a great fertility clinic with high success rates as well. Best of luck to you.

Egg freezing involves most of the same steps as IVF, but the chances of success are better if you freeze an embryo rather than an egg. The Guardian reported last year that the proportion of frozen eggs leading to a live birth in women under 36 is 8%. Something to consider! x

Acupuncture can help with the IVF procedures including egg retrieval. The IVF clinics here in Trinidad & Tobago advise patients on using a qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner as a holistic approach. TCM has helped me in my own Adenomyosis treatment line. Research the IVF clinics in your area. I have not had that particular procedure, but I have been to a few seminars given by IVF clinics in T & T. Good luck to you.
