Smoking?

Has anyone tried smoking cannabis to help with their pain?

CBD oil doesn’t seem to help me, and I’m fed up with taking codeine after codeine as it rarely touches the sides and if it does, only for a couple hours. I also think codeine must be very bad for the body to keep taking all of the time.

With this in mind, I got some weed on Friday and had a few joints this weekend. I am not a weed smoker so I smoked it with tobacco and only used a very small amount, then upped it when it didn’t really help. I noticed that once I upped it, it really helped the pain. It makes you feel so relaxed and heavy and the pain vanishes.

Just wondering if anyone else has had positive experiences?

Iv read your last few posts and I really feel for you. I’m sorry your going through this and the bad comments/advice from supposed specialists.

If they performed diathermy(burned/lazer) to your endometriosis previously any surgeon who knows their sh*t would know excision really is the way it goes... cutting it out and even then it can grow back tiny deposits can be left there is always a risk. Whatever type of surgery for endometriosis!

I’m so sorry your in pain, I’m in no judgement of you as only you know how bad it makes you feel & we all have a level of pain with endo. I also have endometriosis in the mild- moderate stage... stage 2 just had my 3rd lap and this time a coil fitted and tbh... I’m not holding my breath that it won’t grow back or this coil will work longer than a few months.

If it was me (personally) I wouldn’t start abusing your body with social drugs... there’s so much media about it at the moment - but if you read up on some of the consequences... do you want them? Or worsening problems if you have them already?

Insomnia, paranoia, depression, lung issues, affecting your ovulation (which we already can have problems with naturally having endometriosis) I’m assuming you are still young?) increased risk of stroke, heart attack... the list goes on.

As you said you had a bit then had to dose up more because it did nothing for your pain! You don’t want to rely on codeine but you don’t mind relying on cannabis...

I would hate to know you got addicted to something which is illegal (not bashing you but it’s the truth) and also will harm your health when your trying to help your pain and health... it’s kind of doing the opposite to what you want in the long run really... less harm, less pain, a better body.

I’m so sorry you feel this way - I don’t know what to suggest other than find a surgeon keep researching even if you have to save and have a private consultation... also if your gp is willing to up your codeine when you need it (they seem good and helpful) lean on them and get a form of medication which benefits your pain if codeine isn’t for you. The uk are trying to ward people off oppiate painkillers ... like myself Iv been on it for a year now and I’m coming off it and trying alternatives. just please be careful and think of the long term implications for your health.

Good luck lovely

X

Hello, thanks for your response I appreciate it. I wouldn’t be smoking every night, I am a runner and wouldn’t want anything to ruin that. I’m talling about doing it when I have really bad pain days that’s all. I’m 26, I have been thinking about going private but at the moment it’s not an option as myself and my husband are currently saving for a house so it’s impossible to save for anything else!! I have changed my diet numerous times, I run and do yoga and I really try to ease my pain with natural ways, this was just another option that I am willing to try that’s all :) x

Hi MegTweed, I have vaped it a few times as I also have Fibro, but after trying 4 or 5 times I decided not to do it anymore. I find the relief pretty instant, but decided I didn't want to risk it as I am not a smoker and I have found tweeking the dose of the CBD oil as beneficial. It is a little slower to work, but if you find the right dose for you it does work. Something else I found helpful recently is CBD oil suppositories. More instant than the sublingual oil. From what I have learned over the last year as I used to live in Switzerland where it is more legal until recently with higher THC (all be it minimal) generally my understanding is that less is more. If you are taking a 10% CBD oil and taking it x3 daily and getting no effect you are reaching saturation point and the body can only absorbe so much of that dose. Then you are better going up to the next level, say 15% and taking it x2 daily. I would really recommend getting some professional advice from someone who knows, and avoid the oils you can buy in high street health food stores (without nameing anyone in particular) you are after high quality for the best results. It has been a game changer for me for pain relief. I still need the codeine from time to time, but far less and my sleep is really good which makes so much difference. Good luck. xx

Hey Meg,

I suffer really bad with the pain, and the other half was fed up with me in codeine and oramorph and the come down I have off that, as it can take days and I am completely out of it... so we have tried smoking weed, and it helped, as you said it relaxed me so the pain wasn't as bad, and I didn't have a come down from it, I understand all the side affects but you get some bad ones from codeine and all the other drugs I take.... also it's not addictive like codeine is.

I think it's worth a try I have told my doctor about it and she said if it works then use it, but she can't prescribe it me lol.

I am now on a 3/6 months waiting list to see the specialist again (seen him privately but can't afford my second lap privately) then once I see him have another 6 months wait for my lap to remove endo (I'm stage 4 and couldn't do it on my first lap) I am fed up of being in pain every month so tries something different.

Good luck hun, and I hope it works for you x

Thanks! Nice to know it helps someone, I think weed gets a bad name for itself, after all it’s just a plant and there’s so much evidence that I can help with so many conditions, otherwise why would some countries make it legal?! Hope you get your lap soon xx

I have suggested is this blog before, cannabis was the only natural medication that actually helps to ease the pain but I don’t smoke it, I have drunk it as tea 🍵 and it really works wonders, mix it with some mint and boil it for 20mins, the heat remedy so far! After suffering with pain for almost two years this was my last and only option and it did work, I wish the government would finally legalise cannabis for medical purposes...
