Surgery to remove Endometrioma

Hello everyone,

I’m on a waiting list for my second laparoscopy to remove a 5cm cyst on my right ovary. I haven’t been given any other information from the hospital.

Am I right in assuming they will look for other spots of Endometriosis during the surgery too?

And, will they be able to remove the mass on/in my ovary without removing the whole ovary, or am I likely to lose my right ovary?

Thanks in advance 🙂 x

Hi,

I also had a cyst (endometrioma) on my ovary a couple of years ago. Mine was around the same size as yours and they managed to successfully remove just the cyst. Obviously everyone is different but fingers crossed they wont need to take the whole ovary. I'm sure they will check for endometriosis while they're in there as well, but I guess it depends if you've shown symptoms of having it xx

Hi they should be able to remove cyst without removing the ovary but it depends on how complex it is too... they should also remove other endo if they can/ if they c it. X
