Hii me again, my pains in my back an cramps are coming back these past few days, An I have a physical job being a mechanic I find it hard some days to do most things an am almost always exhausted, I have been warned a few times in work these past few weeks for obviously falling behind with me work.

As I work in a fully male environment and have a male boss I find it very hard to sit an explain my problems as to why I find it difficult to work some days.

Does anyone else have male bosses and have a good way to approach this

Thanks ☺️ xx

I can imagine this is extremely difficult for you, I really feel for you. I work in an office but do have a male dominated environment and I’ve been just totally honest about my surgery etc, but now I’m back at work am finding it harder to discuss the ongoing symptoms and issues (ie first period pain post lap, problems with my bowel movements). I think generally the view is once you’re at work you’re fixed and ok but that isn’t how a chronic condition works. My advice, and I need to take it myself, is do what you can, be honest and clear in what you can manage, and trust people are human and will understand at some level even if they can’t empathise entirely. Good luck xx

Do you have an HR department who could make adjustments for you? Maybe get a referral to occupational health? x

Occupational health is a great shout, they’ve been fab for me and I was sceptical

Hi Sfr

have no idea how you are managing your job post lap.

The very though of you wrenching up a car or lifting an engine. The fact you are surrounded by males complicates it but your main employer needs to know what youve been through, if one of the chaps had keyhole surgery I bet they would be getting help with the heavy lifting. You need to be assertive and yes you are female but tough titty to them its a forward world we live in. You cannot be bullied or have your rights infringed on.

I think you need to air your needs to the boss..if you delay this you could strain yourself competing to be on the same level as the males who have not had keyhole nor who dont feel strangled in pain every month with a gushing tide ripping from them!

God its like a movie script with flashbacks of G.I Jane coming through here! ......

I am 100% sure the garage doesn't have a HR depot there! 😉

Best Wishes

Helly.

So I have rang my hr department this morning and explained how I sometimes have days in work when I am in pain or exhausted or a day like today when I am bloating that much it’s making me tired an just sore.

They have referred me to occupational health but also emailed the head of hr explaining how I am not getting the level of support I need from my management, now am panicking thinking this will make my boss hate me or try to get rid of me 😩

They seem to think am being a bit dramatic but I don’t no what else to do giving the situation is embarrassing to speak to a male manager about
