So I had my lap earlier in the year and the surgeon said it was removed off both ovaries and my womb and believed it was everything. No diagnosis of what stage endometriosis it was, but still in pain. Was sent for an MRI when I was on a Mirena coil which calmed things down a lot and it showed a 25mm cyst(?) Within my right ovary. Now I'm back on the copper coil and my pain is a lot worse and the MRI would be completely outdated, but based on your own personal diagnosis what stage would you consider this to be?
Thanks

From what it sounds like, is the endo was likely stage 1 or 2, however its really important to note the staging system for endo only takes into account pathophysiology and has no correlation with symptom severity and pain. Someone women have stage 5 endo and are completely asymptomatic while some women with stage 1 are in complete agony.
The cyst on the other hand, depends on what kind of cyst it was. Lots of women with endo have other cystic issues like polycystic ovaries, or heamatoma cysts, or complex ovarian cysts. If it is a within the ovary cyst it’s unlikely to be an endometrial cyst as these tend to grow on top of the ovary.
A cyst is just a ball of fluid (with endometrial cysts it tends to be blood, but other cysts have other types of fluid in them), surrounded by a lining to hold it together. Without seeing the radiology report of what the actual cyst looks like its hard to say anything conclusive on it.
Thanks! I don't think it was a fluid cyst, it was endometrial (?) Of some description but I have only briefly seen the MRI report at my GP, not had the actual results from my gynaecologist... It was definitely inside the tissue though. Don't know if that means anything as you appear to know what you're talking about! A lot more than me anyway... I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all, and the GP offering the option of early menopause at the grand old age of 27 😪
